If you are comfortable with ResEdit 2.1.1 you may use the resources in this folder instead of the updaters. I included these resources in case HP issued a future version 5.01 or something like that. The updaters are particular about what version they are updating. These ResEdit resources aren't. (Actually this is the first time I've tried the updater software and I'm not sure if it will work for everyone.)
Note: ResEdit users that are using the INIT called Forker, which puts the data fork as a <DF> resource in the ResEdit window, should be sure to never copy the <DF> resource from the resource file. Only copy the DITL, DLOG, PAT#, PICT and vers resources. If you copy the <DF> resource (which is blank in my files) you will overwrite the data fork of the HP printer drivers (which isn't blank).
Make a copy of the stock HP driver 5.0 (direct or AppleTalk) and then name it something like “HP SGS 5.0 (AT)” to remind you what type of Greyscale you have installed. Each resource will work on either the direct or the AppleTalk driver so that is why there are only 5 files. You do not need to keep the updaters if you know how to install these resources.
Each new Greyscale driver needs to be configured with the Chooser unless the original driver was already configured.
